Online shoppers turn to departmental sites and share their experiences
Coremetrics tracked online sales for a twelve day period beginning the Monday prior to the US Thanksgiving holiday. “Across the board our clients are experiencing year over year growth in traffic and in shopping," said Joe Davis, CEO of Coremetrics. Intimate apparel websites showed the second highest growth (19%) YoY and apparel sites showed the third highest growth (13%). Finally home websites have shown the least growth (6%) year over year. Meanwhile, Nielsen//Netratings has found that many online shoppers are turning to reviews this holiday season, not for product information, but to relate their online shopping experiences. Etailers are likely to benefit from these experience reviews because more than half of those surveyed said the reviews either have been or will be positive.
Reunited, and it feels so good?
I don't know that he is taking less than he would get elsewhere either. It is more likely that he and Boras overplayed their hand and are now eating crow. I give the guy credit though. If I were him I would leave the yankees and their ungrateful fans far behind in my rearview mirror. The guy has had two MVP seasons and he still is not accepted by the yankee faithful. Kinda makes me think that he is simply taking the highest bidders money. .
Time for socialising the real way!
My love for Myspace and Facebook lasted a couple of weeks. It was great hooking up with old friends and complete strangers, with people you had forgotten or you thought had died but were still alive. It was nice to share pictures, stories, experiences and what have you. Now that everything has been shared with everybody — well almost — it's probably time to get back to socialising the real way. There is a view that social networking fatigue could set in soon as surfers get tired of trying to balance their real and cyber lives. Building an online identity over and over again is not always the easiest thing to do but a lot of people do get sucked into it, if only to stay at par with peers. Hey, how many networking sites are you on? All, dude. You can find me on Orkut, Facebook, Myspace, Rhyze, even Bigadda! Hell, do I care? A lot of us do and that's the reason social networking sites have boomed in recent years, zipping into the netherworld with millions joining the bandwagon in a rush to find out more about others, start communities and eventually get bombarded by inane messages that people send just to remain part of a group.
Dear Doris Lessing: Reading And Writing Online Are Still Reading And ...
How many people create videos and post them to u tube vs simply watch. How many create a web site vs simply browse. For a small percentage of people, computers have become a means of creation. For most it is another passive device, just like TV, or books. Of course I am of that much maligned "older" generation. The term 'couch potato' was coined for a reason. You completely shut down all but a small part of your mind for hours at a time, day after day.
